The Matua Nautica Pacifica and island culture necklace is made of hand braided waxed cotton cord using ancient Polynesian knot tying techniques. The pendant is made of fine grade pewter and silver. The Matua Nautica Pacifica Necklace is symbolic of island culture and tells a story of a god called Maui who uses this fish hook to fish the sea. The Matua Nautica signifies ocean knowledge and a focused direction. The etymology of Matua dates as far back as ancient Maori God also called Matao the name of the higher of two division of the ruling Chamori caste in ancient Chamoru society.
